Biography

Gerard was born on the 4th of September 1988 in Hammersmith, London. He currently holds four awards for radio presenting, including a Gold for ‘Best Male Presenter’ in 2009.

At the age of 13 he was invited to sit in on a local hospital radio show in Hillingdon. For many years Gerard watched and learnt how to present and at the age of 16, in September 2005 he took part in his first live broadcast on the ‘Request Show’.

It was March 2005 when Gerard landed his own show on a Sunday afternoon, presenting the best in new music to rival the chart shows on other commercial stations.

In 2006 Gerard moved from his Request Show to an earlier time of 5pm, playing a mixture of classic hits and new music.

This year also saw Gerard take part in a very unique outside broadcast where he bungee jumped off the top of a crane above a pub car park. The whole event was recorded and played out later on air, after a few beeps were thrown in! This spurred him on to add a much more creative element to his shows, which would ultimately result in some ongoing rewards…

Gerard picked up his first award for radio presenting in 2006 for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the HBA Awards in Blackpool. The very next year he received Silver for ‘Best Male Presenter’ and in 2008 a bronze award for his part in a 72-hour broadcast marathon where he presented for 24 hours non-stop.

In late 2007, Gerard was approached to take on the Weekday Breakfast Show for new Local Station Hayes FM. He started presenting in September 2007 (the day before his 19th birthday!) from 7am until 9am. This was later extended in 2008 until 10am.

After a few weeks presenting Breakfast, Gerard was asked to take on the ‘HFM Chart Show’ on a Saturday afternoon, which was a 2 hour show featuring the 20 most requested songs on the station.

While on Breakfast he also did many interviews with a few well-known celebrities including Jay Sean, Sid Owen and Joe Pasquali.

In December 2008 Gerard left Hayes FM to focus on his future following a keen interest from National & Commercial radio stations across the UK. In 2009 his determination led him to presenting regular network shifts on newly formed Orion Media’s hit music network including BRMB, Wyvern, Mercia, Beacon Radio West Midlands & Beacon Radio Shropshire. After a few show’s Gerard was asked to permanently cover the Friday & Saturday night slot until Tim Shaw took over in January 2010.

Once his commitments with Orion Media had finished, Gerard signed a contract with Bauer Media to take over Weekend Overnights on the Big City Network which includes Key 103 & 96.3 Radio Aire.
